Be a 10!

One thing that Tom Short, the Christian speaker who was on campus earlier this week, said that I wholeheartedly agree with had to do with finding a spouse. Basically, He said this.

"On a scale from 1 to 10, a 1 being the worst mate you could have and a 10 being the best, who of yall wants to marry a 1? How about a 5? Of course not, all of you want to marry a 10. And the best advice I can give you for making that happen is this. Be a 10 yourself. Don't spend your efforts trying to attract a certain type of person and ignore the state of your own person. If you want a wife that is in love with the Lord, be in love with the Lord yourself. If you want a husband that's pure, be pure yourself. If you want a spouse who's productive, be a productive yourself."

Hearing this caused me great joy, because it's something that so many people I think need to hear. And it really is golden advice. People usually end up marrying someone who's pretty much of the same "worth" ,for lack of a better term, as he or she is. So, yeah, be a 10.
